Spring Semester

       It's Spring Semester time!  Time to register for classes, if you haven't already.

I decided it's about time I returned to college.  In doing so, I verbalized my thoughts to Mum and Pops only to start up a rather lively discussion about the necessity of higher education.  Then, Kahn got  involved.

Well what started out as a friendly chat between me and the folks, soon turned to gauntlets thrown down and challenges made/ accepted that had everybody going back to school to see who could stick it out, and who would have the highest gpa at the end of the semester. 

Even Mum and Pops got involved...

Then came the challenges from outside the household.  Snack Buddy showed up and was not going to be the only left out of the fun.   Did I say fun?   I don't actually remember anyone telling me, nor do I recall telling anyone that going to college is fun.  You see, I've been there, done that.   (Okay, so sooner or later, you had to guess that I was going to use that worn out cliché.)

So, we had to lay down some rules to make it fair.  Here are those rules.

1) Everyone takes the same amount of college credit hours.

2) Everyone has to take at least one of each of the following:

Science

Literature/ English/ Languages

Fine Arts or Art History

Humanities

Physical Education

Self Improvement

and One elective

No one can just audit a course.  It has to be taken for a grade.  Also, you can't quit your day job to do this.  (I really thought I had Mum, Pops, and Snack Buddy with this rule, but Pops just gritted his teeth and nodded okay. Mum and Snack Buddy weren't going to be outdone and stuck to their guns.)

So, with registration out of the way, books purchased, and schedules posted for all to see, this is what each of our candidates chose.

Well, that's where we are at.  Should be an interesting Semester!  As for the schools...

Bowser will be commuting and attending Columbia. Kahn is also flying out daily, except he is going to Johns Hopkins.  I will be going to University of Southwest Hawaii Extension College At Paris, Texas.  Jane is attending through a commute to MIT.  Mum is going to Centenary College in Shreveport, Pops is registered at the Highland College of Agricultural and Mechanical Sciences also in Shreveport, LA???.  Snack Buddy is attending Billy Anderson's School of Forensic Gastronomy and Pawn Shop. 

Now, We never laid down rules about the validity of the colleges or the distance commuted or even whether or not the school actually exists.  So I put question marks by Pop's school.  I wondered how he was going to go to school with this kind of load, work his job, and handle the mini-farm.  Well, it turns out that the Highland College of Agricultural and Mechanical Sciences also in Shreveport, LA is Pop's very own college.  It has one administrator, one professor, and one student... and they are all Pops!  So, I am not sure how this is all going to shake out.  Perhaps, I'll cover more on that later.

Everybody has their backpacks and lunches made.  We meet back here at home in the evenings for study hall and our own brand of student union!

Oh well.  A man learneth not, lest he go to school!

Big Footage

On the subject of Big Foot...






I was watching a documentary on the history channel just the other night with Mum and Pops.   Mum was asleep within a few minutes of the start of the program and Pops was snoring shortly thereafter, leaving me to watch alone.  Kahn, not really in the mood for television, curled up on the hall rug outside the t.v. room and settled down for a long winter's nap. 

This is probably just as well.  Mum and Pops often talk during the programs, making it hard for me to listen to the details.   As for Kahn, since the show was about Big Foot, it probably was just as well that he miss out too.  The poor fellow already  thinks he has some sort of kinship with cattle.  If he were to watch this, heaven only knows what he might come up with next!

I did gain some insight to this phenomenon.  It also has given me enough interest to go watch the telly by myself and see what other shows had to offer in the way of Big Foot evidence.  There was one show I liked, with Josh Gates as the narrator/ leader.  They were on their way to Tibet, I think, to try to find evidence of a Yeti.   The best part of the show was when Josh asked his crew if anyone had any bad Yeti jokes and one of them answered, "Are we there, Yeti?"   He he

So, I have compiled a bit of information concerning Big Foot, Yeti, Sasquatch, Skunk Ape, Ohio Grassman, Yayalee, or Swamp Monster... or whatever other names there are for this "thing."  Interestingly enough, one researcher has made the bold statement that everywhere there is a huge number of Big Foot sightings, there also is a large number of UFO sightings.  

Now this leads me to two possible conclusions... 1).  UFOs and Big Foot are related some kind of way... or  2). Nutty people and hackers hang out in numbers in very specific places. 

Well, who am I to judge.  I suppose a third possibility is that there is a great deal of something going on out there that the human eye is simply misconceiving.  Who knows?  While not making light of other peoples sightings, (I believe that they obviously saw something), I would like to take a comedic moment and make light of an otherwise potentially dark subject.  I do this in order to give these folks a chance to laugh, but only to laugh at my comic fare, not at their situation.   I recommend that until further evidence is brought to light, that these folks are handled seriously and with nothing but respect.  I do think that someday, we'll have our answer.

As for Big Foot...

I have my own Big Foot to deal with...


His huge feet have stepped on me more than once!


There are some similarities that I would like to point out other than the size of their feet!


Big Foot sightings with UFO occurrences:   When I see Kahn, I want to catch a ride on a UFO.

           

    

Big Foot Tracks:  (See Picture below)  A little different from Kahn's, but would tear up the yard, nonetheless.



Big Foot makes a loud moaning sound.   On the graph below, you see the voice characteristics of Big Foot on the top and Kahn's...

Kahn makes a loud moaning sound when he yawns, as shown on the bottom graph.


Big Foot likes to rap on trees.

When Kahn runs into a tree, it makes a loud rapping noise!


Big Foot stinks.... Like the South end of a North bound mule with diarrhea.

Big Foot is rarely seen with other Big Foots


I have never seen Kahn with another Kahn.


Big Foot likes to hide in trees and leave scat in the forest.













Kahn likes to scat in the yard and hide in the bushes.


Lore has it that some Big Feet (Plural?) get upset when you cut down trees for development of land.

Kahn, like myself, gets upset when a tree is cut down.   (It is a great hiking point).


So, you see folks, I have Big Foot problems of my own.
